What Is Lifestyle Medicine?

Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based clinical care offering. Through the use of individualised behaviour changes and techniques, lifestyle medicine aims to improve factors such as: mental wellbeing, social connection, healthy eating, physical activity, sleep and more.

Chronic conditions and illnesses have a huge physical, emotional, social and environmental impact. Lifestyle medicine offers solutions to improve the overall health and wellbeing of individuals.


Flourish for Life is the first lifestyle medicine clinic in the North West, combining the expertise of healthcare professionals to help patients and workplaces to use evidenced based lifestyle advice to improve health and wellbeing.

Creating Your Personalised Lifestyle Programme

Flourish creates a space to explore and work with you to help you identify your health and lifestyle goals.

Our Doctors will work with you to create a Personalised Lifestyle “Prescription” and Programme.

Our personalised lifestyle medicine approach uses holistic and therapeutic methods to improve your health and wellbeing.

Flourish creates a space for you to explore and identify your goals and desired outcome. Our aim is for you to become healthier and happier as a result of close working with aligned health professionals and our Lifestyle Medicine Doctors.

As a Doctor-led service, we provide a tailored holistic approach to give you the confidence and support to achieve your lifestyle goals.

The Lifestyle Doctor will work with you to understand your current health metrics and the areas that are negatively impacting your health. This will involve:

- Helping you think about the big picture when it comes to your health

- Reflecting on the factors in your lifestyle that impact your health and well-being

- Helping you focus on the factors you want to address to support your whole health (mentally, physically and emotionally)

Once these areas and goals have been identified, our Doctors will recommend a personalised “prescription” and programme for you to follow that targets these.

The Flourish team will support, advise and empower you throughout your programme whilst you take control of your health and wellbeing.

Your Lifestyle Medicine Doctor will design a Personal Lifestyle Prescription which focuses on YOUR goals.

This can include:

- Health and Wellness Coaching

- Nutritional Plans

- Physical Activity Plans

- Physiotherapy

- Yoga

- Psychotherapy

- Meditation and Mindfulness

- Sleep Advice

Our Process

The first step of our process is an in-depth assessment with one of our Doctors. In this assessment, we take into consideration your illness/condition, symptoms, goals, limitations and much more.

Following this, you will be invited back to discuss your Personalised Lifestyle “Prescription”, which is our Doctor’s recommendation of the strategies and approach necessary to attain your health and wellness goals.

Our Doctors will create a Personalised Programme with you that consists of recommended holistic and therapeutic approaches and tasks to improve your illness/condition.

You will have access throughout to all the support and expertise you need from our team of aligned health professionals.

 

Your Appointment

During your initial appointment, our Lifestyle Doctor will work with you to understand your current health metrics and the areas that are negatively impacting your health.

We recommend that you arrive to your appointment with a list of your symptoms (you are less likely to forget any if you write them down), and having already considered the affects of your illness/condition (on your family life, work life, sex life, mental health, etc.).

If you already know the specific goals or outcome you would like to see from working with Flourish, this would be a really useful starting point for our Doctors. If not, we can figure these out together during the appointment!
